DBT Skills in Schools,

This interactive and experiential workshop moves beyond theory, with a strong focus on practical application. Across the two days, participants will:
Understand core DBT principles and how they apply to student emotional dysregulation
Develop confidence teaching DBT skills through experiential learning activities
Practise applying DBT skills in both individual counselling and group settings
Reflect on personal use of DBT skills to strengthen authenticity in clinical work
To maximise the practical learning time, pre-workshop materials will be provided ahead of the workshop. All participants will also receive a comprehensive resource pack, allowing the strategies and materials from the workshop to be immediately implemented in practice.

The Tasmanian School Psychology Association (TSPA) is delighted to invite you to an exclusive professional learning opportunity in May 2026: DBT Skills in Schools, with Renée Valentino.
This two-day workshop will be facilitated by psychologist Renée Valentino, a respected clinician working across schools and private practice with over 15 years’ experience in community mental health, education settings, and complex youth presentations. Designed specifically for school psychologists and counsellors (but applicable to all clinicians working with school-aged young people), the workshop focuses on building confidence in the practical use of DBT skills with children and adolescents.

Participants may also choose to join a five-session consult group, designed to support ongoing implementation of DBT skills in practice. These virtual sessions will run fortnightly throughout Term 3 and provide an opportunity to discuss cases, problem-solve challenges, and deepen your application of DBT strategies.
