Australian Psychologists and Counsellors in Schools (APACS)

National Conference for 2025

20-21st October 2025

Grand Chancellor Hotel, Hobart, Tasmania

The Tasmanian School Psychology Association (TSPA) is thrilled to be hosting this year’s APACS Conference: ENGAGE. ENRICH. EMPOWER.

This conference will bring together school psychologists, counsellors, leadership and support staff from across the country, with an aim of fostering professional growth, sharing insights, and developing strategies to improve outcomes for students’ mental health, education and overall wellbeing. Our theme, "Engage, Enrich, Empower”, is designed to nurture minds and inspire growth. We aim to provide a platform for learning and collaboration, offering attendees with valuable workshops, keynote speeches, access to the latest research and networking opportunities.

As a small Tasmanian organisation, we are grateful for the opportunity to welcome visitors to our state and are passionate about making this event a success.

When tickets are purchased delegates are invited to select whether they would like to attend the two-hour EMPOWER workshops (capped at 40 people) or two separate one-hour sessions. Please note, some sessions in the ENGAGE stream are designed primarily for psychologists and allied health professionals engaged in clinical work with young people (these are indicated by “clinical focus”). The ENRICH stream is focused more on any staff working in school communities.

Conference Venue

Our conference is being held at the Grand Chancellor Hotel, Hobart. The hotel is centrally located on Hobart’s waterfront and offers breathtaking views of the stunning Hobart Harbour, the cityscape, or majestic kunanyi / Mount Wellington. It’s also a short walk from the city's hotspots, including Salamanca, Battery Point, CBD & shopping precinct, and the ever-popular MONA ferry.

Travelling to the Venue
Rise share and public transport, including Taxi, Uber, and the Metro Bus Service are suitable options if staying in Greater Hobart or beyond. If you are staying on The Eastern Shore, you can take the Derwent Ferry Service from Bellerive to Brooke Street Pier and then take a 10 minute stroll to The Grand Chancellor.

Parking
There are several convenient parking options located close to the Hobart waterfront and CBD. Popular choices for conference delegates include carparks run by Sultan Parking (Market Place) and the Hobart City Council (Argyle Street, Centrepoint, and Hobart Central). These facilities are all within easy walking distance of major venues, hotels, and attractions. Daily rates and long-stay options are available, and most accept card payments. We recommend checking availability and pricing in advance.

Accommodation at the Grand Chancellor
Delegates can redeem a special rate at The Grand Chancellor for the duration of the conference. Rooms are to be booked by delegates and access to the special rate can be found by clicking the link below (ensure you scroll down and select “access special rates here”).
